Marlys Anne Ploeger Malcom was born February 7, 1932, in Storm Lake, IA, to Arthur and Elizabeth (Arthur) Ploeger. She attended and graduated from Schaller High School in Schaller, IA. Marlys then went on to college attending Wayne State College in Wayne, NE. Marlys married the love of her life Clarence L. Malcom in 1951. She spent her adult life doing what she loved teaching for many school districts. She retired in 1971 where she then picked up many hobbies. Marlys loved crocheting, baking and quilting. Most of all she loved spending time with her friends and family. For the last 10 years, Marlys spent her time at the West Town Apartments in Marshalltown making many memories and friends. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and National T.T.T. Society.

Marlys will be dearly missed by her children: Jeanne Whitehill, Jane (Lyle) Leferber, Mark (Jana) Malcom, Brad (Cathy) Malcom; grandchildren: Ben Whitehill, Rob Whitehill, Megan Whitehill, Jennie (Steve) Plummer, Melissa (Kevin) Dunn, Drew (Mindee) Argostinger, Allison (Eric) Burchland, Hunter (Kirstyn) Malcom, Wesley (Carrie) Malcom, Steven (Taylor) Haldeman, Justin (Lynnzie) Malcom; 33 great grandchildren; and siblings, Carol Bradley, and Richard Ploeger.

She is preceded in death by her husband, and siblings, Margie Wyckoff, Virginia Anderson and Danny Arthur.
