Jerry Dean Williams, 79

Jerry Dean Williams, 79, of Marshalltown, passed away on the morning of Saturday, August 19, 2023, at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown.

Graveside services for Jerry will be held on Friday, August 25, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Marshalltown. Following the burial will be a family-led Celebration of Life at the American Legion Golf Course from Noon to 3pm. Please dress casually as Jerry hated suits. Jerry was born on September 4, 1943, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to Estella Novella (Wirth) Williams Stinocher. He grew up in Albion and attended school there. He played sports in school and after high school, Jerry served his country honorable in the United States Navy, in the Navy Construction Battalion, also known as the “Seabees.” He served from 1962 to 1966 and was honorably discharged. On April 22, 1967, Jerry was united in marriage to Wilma “Willie” Irene Lindloff in Rockford, Iowa. Jerry was retired from Fisher Control and was a member of the Frank Lewis Glick American Legion Post 46 in Marshalltown and the American Legion golf course. Jerry enjoyed fishing, especially in northern Minnesota where his brother had a resort. He played slow pitch softball, was on a bowling team and loved playing cards with friends (Pepper and Poker mostly). He liked Duck and Pheasant hunting in his younger years. Jerry took up golfing after retiring and was very proud of his amazing feat of not just one, but THREE holes-in-one!!! It didn’t matter if it was a good day or a bad day on the course it was always with his friends and that made it a great day.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 56 years, Willie. His children: Theresa M. (Darin) Groeneveld, of Marshalltown, and Tanya J. “TJ” (Ron) Gorman, of Omaha, NE. His grandchildren: Novella, Davis and Grant Gorman, of Omaha, NE. His siblings: Robert “Bob” (Barb) Williams, of Austin, MN, Stella “Jean” Howe, of Laurel, Richard “Rick” (Anna) Williams, of Marshalltown, and Kenneth “Butch” Williams, of Marshalltown. Jerry is also survived by his brother-in-law: Jerry Dannen, of Marshalltown; sister-in-law: Nora Balgoyen-Williams, of Allegan, MI. Rose and Larry Fitzgerald, of Mason City, Bill and Alex Lindloff, of Pensicola, Fl and Marilyn Lindloff, of Rockford, IA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Jerry is preceded in death by his mother: Estella; his father Russell; step-father: Frank Stinocher; sisters: Marge, Sandy and Janet; brother: Donny; his brothers-in-law: Curt Howe and Delverne Lindloff; mother-in-law: Alma (Sandersfeld) Lindloff and nephew: Travis Lindloff.
