Al Spafford, 82, of Marshalltown, IA passed away Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at Accura Healthcare of Marshalltown. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at St. Francis of Assisi – St. Mary Catholic Church in Marshalltown. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a 7:00 p.m. vigil service Monday, October 30, 2023, at Anderson Funeral Homes in Marshalltown. Al was born July 11, 1941, to William and Maxine (Van Cleave) Spafford in St. Joseph, MO. He graduated from Lafayette High School in St. Joseph. Al was united in marriage to Marilyn Speas on September 5, 1995, in San Francisco, CA. He was employed as a parts manager for Pat Manning, Mike Manning, Loots Manning, and Mike Clemons Chevrolet. After retiring, Al worked part-time for Hy-Vee. Al enjoyed bowling and golf. He was an avid Iowa State Cyclone fan. In his younger years, Al loved playing softball.
Al will be missed by his wife, Marilyn, two daughters; Tanya (Chris) Weaver, of Kansas City, MO, Tisha Spafford, of Little Rock, AR, a son, Todd (Kim) Spafford, of Little Rock, two stepsons; Greg (Dawn) Speas, of Hot Springs, AR, Jon Speas, of Hot Springs, a stepdaughter, Alicia (Dave) Amundson, of Rockwall, TX, seven grandchildren; Clayton, Nicholas, Hunter, Jacob, Sienna, Peyton, Evan, and a sister, Joyce Glenn, of St. Joseph. He was preceded in death by a brother, Greg Spafford, and a brother-in-law, Rick Glenn.
