Larry W. Wolken, 79, of Marshalltown, IA, passed Wednesday, October 4, 2023, in his home, surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Anderson Funeral Homes in Marshalltown. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. The family is requesting casual attire. Interment will be at Marietta Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established. Online condolences may be sent to www.andersonfhs.com.
Larry was born January 9, 1944, to Wayne and Louella (Elben) Wolken in Marshalltown. He graduated from San Pedro High School in Los Angeles, CA. Larry served his country 3 years, 9 months, and 6 days, in the United States Navy. He was united in marriage to Terrie Spencer on March 5, 1965, in Marshalltown, they have spent almost 59 years together. Larry was employed with Fisher Controls for 35 years. He and Terrie also owned and operated L & W Automotive in Marshalltown. Larry enjoyed auto racing, fishing, hunting, flying ultra lights, snowmobiling, woodworking and spending time with his family. All the kids, grandkids and great grandkids know, “If Papa can’t fix it, nobody can.”
Larry will be missed by his wife, Terrie, four children: Julie (Jeff) Rarick, of Marshalltown, Terrie (Chris) Heiden, of Neveda, IA, Shannon (Brian) Reese, of Colo, IA, Larry (Stephanie) Wolken II, of Marshalltown, 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and one to arrive soon.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sharon Fox.
