Nancy Kusserow, 84, of Eldora, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at the Hubbard Care Center in Hubbard, IA. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 11th, 9:30 – 10:30 am at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora, IA. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 11th, 11:00 am at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora, IA. Burial will take place in the Eldora Cemetery. Nancy Anne Tjarks Kusserow was born July 14, 1939, in Hubbard, Iowa, to George Leon Tjarks and Leona (Skrovig) Tjarks. Nancy graduated from Hubbard High School with the class of 1957. She furthered her education at the Iowa School of Beauty in Des Moines, graduating in cosmetology. She owned her own beauty shop before marrying Dean L. Kusserow in September, 1959.
Dean and Nancy made their home in Council Blu?s and then settled in Marshalltown and Albion, where they raised their family. In later years, Dean and Nancy moved to Eldora.
Following Dean’s death, Nancy moved to Marshalltown for several years. Her last months were spent at the Hubbard Care Center.
Dean and Nancy are the parents of three children: Roger, Deborah and Michael. Nancy enjoyed being a homemaker. Her hobbies included cooking and baking, gardening, sewing and quilting, hardanger embroidery and knitting and crocheting. She and Dean enjoyed ballroom dancing and road trips together prior to Dean’s death in 2011. She was very proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed family gatherings.
Nancy was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora. While living in Eldora, she was a member of the quilting group and a frequent volunteer for the church.
Nancy is survived by her children: Roger (Ronda Greenfield) Kusserow, of Altoona, Deborah (Scott) Sebby, of Clarion, and Michael (Cathy) Kusserow, of Hubbard; her grandchildren: Kyle Kusserow (Shannon Crawford and children, Drake, Journey, and Ella), of Toledo, Sara (Jared) Daggett, of Marshalltown, Leah (Kyle) Wiederin and Grant Sebby (Bailey Pavelka and daughter, Laikynn), of Clarion, and Kaleb Kusserow, of Ames, as well as 6 great grandchildren: Caleb and Ava Kusserow, Jordyn and Madisyn Daggett and Wyatt and Ada Wiederin. Siblings: Mary Lou Kirkdor?er, Tom (Cheri) Tjarks and Connie (Roger) Zoske; siblings-in-law: Carroll (Alice) Kusserow, Linda (Greg) Hovden and Iola Kusserow.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Kusserow; her daughter-in-law, Pam Kusserow; parents, Leon and Leona Tjarks; parents-in-law, Ilo and Fern Kusserow and brother-in-law, Marlin Kirkdor?er.
