Sherrill Roseland
Sherrill K. Roseland, 83, of Marshalltown, IA, passed away Friday, January 5, 2024, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 11, 2024, at the First United Methodist Church in Marshalltown. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at Anderson Funeral Homes in Marshalltown. Inurnment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Marshalltown. Memorials may be directed the Iowa Veterans Home, First Methodist Church, or to the family as a memorial has been established in Sherrill’s name. Sherrill was born October 9, 1940 to Leslie and Hazel (McCann) Haley in Mitchell, SD. She graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1958. Sherrill was united in marriage to Lowell Roseland on June 21, 1958, in Marshalltown. They made Marshalltown their home and purchased Haleys Grocery from Les and Hazel Haley in 1976, keeping the business in the family. After Sherrill and Lowell retired from the business, they turned it over to his daughter and son-in-law, but remained involved and helped when needed. When not at work, Sherrill enjoyed working with and showing the horses on their acreage. This developed lifelong friendships with other horse lovers. She was a member of the MAHA Appaloosa Club, POAC (Ponies of America Club). Sherrill loved spending time with her family and especially her grandkids.
Sherrill will be missed by her daughter, Leslie (Stan) Groth, of Marshalltown, two grandchildren; Jacob (Sarah) Groth, of Webster City, Haley (Sam) Upah, of Marshalltown, four great grandchildren: Gavin, Elsie, Evelyn and Bennett. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell, two children; Curtis and Katherine, in infancy.
