Patricia Schweiger

Patricia Ann (McGrath) Schweiger, 91, of Marshalltown, IA passed away Sunday, March 24, 2024, at Southridge Specialty Care, Marshalltown. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at St. Francis of Assisi Parrish, St. Henry Catholic Church, in Marshalltown. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 26, 2024, with a 7:00 p.m. Vigil Service at Anderson Funeral Homes in Marshalltown. Interment will be at Riverview Cemetery, in Marshalltown. Patricia (Pat) was born August 26, 1932, in Mason City, IA to William Preston and Hilda Mary (Wagner) McGrath. Pat graduated from Holy Family Catholic School in Mason City and then attended Ottumwa Heights College in Ottumwa, IA obtaining an elementary teaching degree. Pat taught school in Rock Falls, IA before meeting her future husband.

Pat was married to EP (Bert) Schweiger of Osage, IA on November 26, 1955, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mason City. They moved to the family farm north of Osage and began raising their family. Bert and Pat moved to Marshalltown in 1967 where they currently reside. Pat enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, reading, crossword puzzles, gardening and attending Iowa Hawkeye football games. She was an active and proud member of the St Henry’s Alter and Rosery society and Navy Mothers.

Pat is survived by her husband of 68 years, Bert Schweiger of Marshalltown, Steven (Karen) Schweiger of Omaha, NE, Laurie (Steve) Pemberton of Norwalk, IA, David (Wanda) Schweiger of Ashland, VA, Michael (Julie) Schweiger of Burlington, WI, Julie (Chris) Hammond of Marshalltown, Jill (Kit) Jameson, of Ankeny, IA, 14 grandchildren; Carmen, Preston, Ryan and Miller Schweiger, Adam and Jake Pemberton, Alexandria Walikainen, Patrick, Katie, Benjamin, Maxwell Travis and Conner, Kaitlyn and Khloe Jameson. 8 great grandchildren; Ella Pemberton, Hrefna Schweiger, Rowan, Dawson, Boston, Hudson Travis, Brennley and Asher Benson. Pat was proceeded in death by a daughter, Jean Marie.
