Born Kenneth Paul Sievers on November 18, 1943, in Marshalltown, IA; he was the son of Clarence and Marian (Schulz) Sievers. After attending country school and graduating from Garwin High School in 1961, he went on to attend Dunwoody College of Technology in Minneapolis, MN. On November 24, 1967, he was united in marriage to Jean Rehder at Peace United Church of Christ in Gladbrook. Together they physically built their forever home in rural Gladbrook even using the native Walnut trees on the property for trim throughout the home. The couple enjoyed their two children Christine and Susan.

Kenny's journey through life was marked by a strong work ethic, instilled in him from his earliest days growing up on a farm, tending to livestock, and learning to use his hands to build and design just about anything, always with a dog by his side (preferably a German Shepherd). Farming and woodworking were Kenny's lifelong passions. Kenny loved the annual fall gathering of the hunters at the farm and attending Corn Carnival yearly with the grandchildren. Over the course of his lifetime, he had several endeavors beyond farming on the side, raising livestock, growing perennial seeds for Germania Seed, and working at Rowe Manufacturing. In his later years, he converted an old hog building into a woodworking shop where he designed countless pieces of furniture for loved ones. After retiring from farming in 2008, he continued to find time for the things he loved. One could find him on the golf course in Conrad or at River Valley in Adel with his golf buddies, watching westerns, or traveling to his grandchildren’s events. In recent years, he and Jean moved off the home acreage to be closer to family in the Grimes area.

Kenny will be remembered as a friendly man always wearing a smile and ready to lend a hand. His commitment to his family, work, and friends was unwavering. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will continue to live on through the lives of those he touched.

Kenny is survived by his wife, Jean Sievers of Grimes, IA; two daughters, Christine Mostaert of McKinney, TX, Susan (Jason) Anderson of Dallas Center, IA, and their children, Sydney, Audrey, Jake, and Logan; one brother, Roger (Pat) Sievers of Gladbrook, two sisters, Sandy (John) McClay of Bloomington, MN, Virigina Henninger of Phoenix, AZ.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Barbara (Pony) Vogt.
