Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, April 14, 2024 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, April 15, 2024 at the funeral home. Burial will be immediately following the funeral service in Riverside Cemetery.

Shirley was born on January 24, 1940 in Lime Springs, IA, the daughter of Ralph and Gertrude (Kubik) Praska. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1958.

On July 12, 1958, Shirley was united in marriage with Kenneth Karns. They built their home in Marshalltown and raised four children, Kelly, Kent, Shelly and Kip.

Shirley ran BINGO at the VFW for many years alongside her friends and sister. She loved to go dancing with her husband in their early years, traveling to Las Vegas, playing BINGO, planting flowers, and being with her family.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; children, Kelly and Kent (Sherry); granddaughter, Ashley; and sister, Marie (Fred) Simbides. She is survived by her children, Shelly (Kevin) Lynk of Marshalltown and Kip (Sarah) Karns of Ankeny; grandchildren, Shaybree, Nicole, Sidney, Heather, and Kameron; along with many great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Ray (Linda) Praska of Albion.
