Danny Butler

Danny “Dan” Charles Butler, age 69 of Albion, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2024, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, May 3, 2024, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Albion Cemetery.

Dan was born on March 6, 1955, in Marshalltown, the 3rd of 4 children of Charles and Kathryn (Beaty) Butler. He graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1974. Dan earned a scholarship to Marshalltown Community College to play football, graduating with his Associate’s Degree in 1976.

On November 11, 1978, Dan was united in marriage with Vicki Mittelstadt at Elim Lutheran Church in Marshalltown. The couple welcomed three children, Jason, Jodi, Jenna, and nephew and niece, Matt and Sarah.

Dan worked at Marshalltown Trowel as a production operator until his retirement in 2007. He also proudly served as a volunteer firefighter and first responder at the Albion Fire Department.

Dan attended the Albion United Methodist Church until the church closure. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with and attending sporting events of his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed coaching his children’s baseball and softball teams, camping and fishing. Dan loved watching the Kansas City Chiefs and Iowa Hawkeyes and driving his Iowa Hawkeye golf cart around town.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Vicki Butler; children, Jason (Zach Michalicek) Butler, Jodi (Dustin) Brown, Jenna (Scott) Juchems, Matt (Jenny) Butler and Sarah Butler; grandchildren, Daniel and Presleigh Brown, Dalton and Morgan Juchems, and Taedyn, Madelyn and Gavin Butler. He is also survived by his siblings, Nancy Butler and Doug (Claudia) Butler; mother-in-law, JoAnne Hartkopp; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Kathryn Butler; father-in-law, Dwayne Mittelstadt; stepfather-in-law, Willie Hartkopp; sister, Vickie Butler; sister-in-law, Cindy Blayer; nephew, Tim Butler; and grandson, Brayden Butler.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the family for a donation to the Albion Community.
