Mark Snyder

Mark Snyder, 65, of Dunbar, Iowa and rural Marshall County, passed away in the comfort of his own home on Saturday, May 4, 2024.

A family-led service will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at the Laurel Community Church beginning at 10:30 A.M. Memorials in Mark’s name may be directed to his family for a later designation. Mark Allen Snyder was born September 25, 1958 in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was the second of five children born to Robert Eugene Sr. and Janice (Waltemeyer) Snyder. Mark grew up in the Le Grand area and graduated from LDF High School with the class of 1977. After graduation, Mark enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served his country until his honorable discharge in 1983.

Mark was first married to Karen McCarty and they later divorced. He was then united in marriage to Beverly (Meeks) Kasal and they were blessed with two children, Danielle and Mark Jr. After 10 years together, Mark and Beverly divorced.

Mark was employed at several places throughout the years, including Cessford Construction Company driving trucks, Tama Packing Company, Van White Trucking and at Monford (now JBS) in the maintenance department in Marshalltown. Mark was a hard worker and always made sure his family was well taken care of.

Mark loved all things music – everything from playing his guitar and writing his own songs, to playing in a band or listening to his favorite, Van Halen. He also enjoyed cleaning his guns and was a member of the NRA, periodically acting as spokesperson for the organization. He loved Reese’s candy and more than anything, spending time with his kids and grandkids.

Those left to remember and cherish his memory are his children: Danielle (Joshua) Overstake and Mark (Holly) Snyder Jr.; special former son-in-law Jon and his wife Ashley Ferguson; his grandchildren: Jeslyn Ferguson, Blake Ferguson, Jace Ferguson, Chandler Overstake, Kayde Overstake, Tukker Snyder, Taiden Snyder, Winter King, Theodore Gorby, Olivia Snyder, Ilah Johnson, Sky McConnell, Jax McConnell, Kane McConnell, Abe Ferguson, Leo Ferguson, and Dellainey Potter; siblings, Clay (Rhea) Snyder, Robert (Jeanne) Snyder Jr, and Sarah Snyder; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Janice Snyder; his sister, Tonya Snyder; and his paternal and maternal grandparents.
