Douglas Earl Nichols, 65, of State Center, IA, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at UnityPoint Health – Marshalltown Hospital in Marshalltown, IA. A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Anderson Funeral Homes in Marshalltown. Anderson Funeral Homes has been entrusted with the arrangements. Douglas Earl Nichols, son of Donald and Bessie (Damman) Nichols, was born December 14, 1958, at Merry Hospital in Des Moines, IA. He attended West Marshall High School of State Center.
Douglas lived in rural Marshalltown for most of his life and later moved to rural State Center to farm after retiring from Emerson’s. He was a member at St. Paul Lutheran Church and the local UAW.
Farming and agriculture overall were a big aspect of Douglas’s life from a young age as he was active in 4-H and Boy Scouts. His passion for farming continued into his adult life even after retiring and until his passing.
Douglas is survived by his son, Dylan Kensler; daughter-in-law, Anna Kensler; and five grandchildren; Carson Kensler, Sophie Stiefel, Harper Kensler, Grayson Kensler, and Benson Kensler.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Bessie Nichols.
