Jean was born April 23, 1944, the third daughter to Frank and Nora Edgington Noid. She attended school in Marshalltown school system, graduating from Marshalltown High School in 1961. She attended Marshalltown Community College earning her associate's degree in 1963.

Jean moved to California and married Allen Kahn in the 1960s. They later divorced and she never remarried.

Jean worked for years guiding companies through Chapter 11 bankruptcy in several states. She retired in the 2000s making her home in Mesa, AZ, loving the warm climate, desert and mountains. She enjoyed her trips back to Marshalltown in the summer months, spending time with family and loved her close friends in Mesa.

Jean is survived by Janet Noid Hass, Marshalltown; her sons: Nick (Cindy) Hass, of Ankeny, and Jason (Jennifer) Hass, of Marshalltown. Judy Noid Smoldt, Marshalltown; her children: Greg (Phyllis) Smoldt, of Albion, Debra (Scott) Holm, of Boone, and several cousins and great nieces and nephews.

Jean is preceded in death by her parents Frank and Nora and brother-in-law, Bob.
