Born on September 2nd, 1942, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, he was the son of Byrl and Thelma (Hardin) Smith. He graduated from the Montour High School in 1962.

On January 3rd, 1964, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Caryle Jean Peak, at her grandparents’ home in Marshalltown. They made their home in Marshalltown all of their married lives where he was employed at Swifts.

LeRoy enjoyed old cars, especially the 1956 Thunderbird, music and time with family and friends. He was exceptionally proud of his family.

Left to cherish his memory are his three sons: Robert (Monica) Smith of Marshalltown, Eric (Deborah) Smith of Melbourne and Jared Smith of Marshalltown; grandchildren- Lucas and Hope Smith and Justin Rieks; his sister Nettie Dibbens and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In death, LeRoy rejoined his beloved Caryle, his parents, brothers- Curt, Lowell and Donald Smith, and sister Illeana Manship the week prior to his passing.
