Jo Ann Decker
Jo Ann Decker, age 90, of Marshalltown, IA, passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, surrounded by family at Iowa River Hospice in Marshalltown. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at Anderson Funeral Homes in Marshalltown. Visitation will take place beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery in Marshalltown. Jo Ann was born July 18, 1934, to Marion and Margaret (Haack) Ralf in Marshalltown. She graduated from Marshalltown High School and shortly after was united in marriage to William “Bill” Decker on February 23, 1952, in Des Moines, IA. The two welcomed three children and proudly raised them in Marshalltown.
Jo Ann worked a variety of jobs in the community including Lennox, Younkers, and Christopher & Banks. She and Bill spent most of their years traveling and boating, especially on the Mississippi River. Jo Ann had a love for being outside, jewelry, and her snowmen at Christmas time. She was also known for her cooking and always making sure everyone was fed. Above all, Jo Ann loved and cherished any time spent with her family.
Jo Ann is survived by one daughter, LeeAnn (John) Murray of Marshalltown, one daughter-in-law, Marcia Decker of Hiawatha, seven grandchildren; Maria (Zosh) Zeutenhorst, Alaina Daters, Audra (Matthew) Guerney, Maria (Brett) Decker, Steven (Jenny) Murray, Chelsea Shaffer, and Libby (Matt) Frazier, 16 great-grandchildren, and one brother, Mark (Laurel) Flemming of Clive, IA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, two sons, Denny Decker and Tom Decker, one granddaughter, Kara Mercer, and one sister, Margie Andrews.
