Visitation will be Tuesday September 10th at 10:00 a.m. followed by Masonic Service at 11:00 a.m. at Anderson Funeral Home in Marshalltown IA. Online condolences may be sent to www.andersonfhs.com. Carlon R. Flowers, son of Arthur and Louise (Boldt) Flowers, was born August 16, 1933, in Tama, IA. He was the youngest of their nine children. He attended Tama schools.

In 1949, Carlon joined the National Guard of Iowa in Marshalltown. He was in the Red Bull Division. In 1950 Carlon joined the United States Marine Corps, serving his country for four years. While in the Marine Corps, he was stationed in Korea and was assigned to the 9th Motor Transport Battalion at Munsan, which was not too far from the Freedom Bridge on the Imjin River. His military M.O.S. was 3516 Automotive Mechanic. As a 3516 Automotive Mechanic he was honorably discharged in 1954. During his long career, he worked at Clifton Grocery Store, delivered Pepsi products, was a manager at Concrete Inc., and the Texaco Truck Stop, and a truck driver for Marshall County secondary road division. He was most proud of finally starting his own business, Rental Maintenance & Repair. He was a member of the Mason’s, Marshall Lodge #108 A.F. & A.M., receiving his 50-year membership certificate on June 11th, 2020. He was also a member of High Twelve Club #617 and the American Legion Post #46. Carlon also supported the DeMolay Chapter being named the Best Chapter dad in the State of Iowa.

On September 23, 1953, he married the love of his life Lorraine (Steuhm) Flowers. They shared a life of love and laughter for over 70 years. They welcomed three children, Brenda (Ronald) Kremer, Bill (Sherry Oetker)Flowers and Barbara (Terry) Schrafel, six grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

Carlon is preceded in death by his son-in-law Ronald Kremer, his parents and his eight siblings.
