He was born October 9, 1934, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of John and Bertilla (Lolwing) Wood. On June 2, 1962, Don was united in marriage to Mary Earley in Hampton, Iowa.

Don graduated from Saint Mary’s High School in Marshalltown, Iowa, and graduated from the University of Northern Iowa. He retired from the John Deere Engine Works and was a veteran of the United States Army. Don was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Cedar Falls.

Don is survived by Julia (Mitchell) Stoll, of Overland Park, KS; two sons, John (Christina) Wood, of Waterloo, IA, and Jason Wood, of London, England; five grandchildren: Anna Stoll, Kathryn Wood, Alexandra Wood, Samantha Wood and John Wood; a brother-in-law, Robert Otis, of Elkhorn, NE and a sister-in-law, Donna Earley, of Cameron, MO.

He was proceeded in death by his wife, Mary; his parents; two brothers, Richard and Larry; and a sister, Margaret.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 10, 2024, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Falls with a rosary at 8:45 a.m. and visitation following until the service. Burial at Fairview Cemetery in Cedar Falls.
