Jo was born to Ora and Aletha (Dowell) Reel on August 27, 1933, in Lucas, IA. She was raised in Conrad, IA where she attended Conrad schools graduating in 1951. After graduation Jo worked as a homemaker and colorist at Apgar Studios in Marshalltown. She also went to La James Beauty School in Mason City, IA.

Later in Jo’s life she worked as a hairdresser and even owned her own salon in Hampton, IA from 1973 to 1977 until moving to Arizona where she then worked at a salon in Sun City for over 25 years.

She was united in marriage to Wayne Kopsa and had four beautiful children. Later the two divorced and she married Jim Hill. The two were united until his passing in 2022.

Jim and Jo loved motorcycles and would travel cross country together riding wherever their motorcycle would take them. Jo had a passion for music and loved to play piano. She could play almost anything by ear. Jo was even part of a small band called the Dry Gulch Band for the retirement community Jim and she lived in during their time in Wittman, AZ.

Jo will be greatly missed and is survived by her children, Tom Kopsa, Cherry (Marty) Getting, and Joni (Bob) Sanderson; her grandchildren, Eric Baker, Ezra Kopsa, Jake Kopsa, Jessica Inman, Noah Sanderson, Zach Halverson, and Brody Halverson; 10 great-grandkids; and 7 great-great-grandkids.

She is preceded in death by her parents; five brothers Floyd, Bill, Bob, Larry and Dale. One sister Maxine; her husband Jim; a daughter, Diane “Didee” Halverson; Son-In-Law Dean Halverson; and a great-granddaughter. She is survived by one sister Donna Davis of Cincinnati, OH.
