Born Jean Susann Rehder on February 20, 1946, in Marshalltown, IA; she was the daughter of Laverne and Alice (Paustian) Rehder. After attending country school and graduating from Garwin High School in 1964, she went on to attend Marshalltown Community College where she received her nursing certification. On November 24, 1967, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Sievers at Peace United Church of Christ in Gladbrook. Together they physically built their forever home in rural Gladbrook lined with many trees and full of her beautiful flower beds. The couple loved their two daughters, Christine and Susan. Jean worked for many years at the Gladbrook Family Medical Clinic as a registered nurse and finished her career at the Tama Medical Center. After retiring from nursing, she and Kenny moved off the home acreage to be closer to family in the Grimes area to spend time with and to love on her grandchildren. Jean enjoyed tending to her many perennial flowers, baking kolaches and fritters for the family, and the occasional trip to Maid Rite in Marshalltown, stemming from her college days. Over the course of her lifetime, she made and altered several prom dresses, refinished numerous pieces of furniture, and knitted countless prayer shawls for Peace United Church of Christ up to this day.

Jean will be remembered by her family as having a genuine heart and a deep-rooted desire to take care of others. Her commitment to her family, work, and friends was unwavering. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy of compassion will continue to live on through the lives of those she touched.

Jean is survived by her two daughters, Christine Mostaert of McKinney, TX, Susan (Jason) Anderson of Dallas Center, IA, and their children, Sydney, Audrey, Jake, and Logan; two sisters, June (Larry) Kruger of Vinton and JoAnn Richards of Greendale, WI. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
