Shirley Finkle
Shirley M. Finkle, 97, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away peacefully at Accura Nursing Facility on April 27, 2025. She was born and raised on a farm north of Prescott, Iowa. She married her husband Bob in 1946. Her only child, Brian, was born a year later. After moving to Marshalltown in 1950, Shirley spent years as a secretary for Lennox and later for the Iowa Soldiers Home. Following Bob's death in 2001, she resided at The Embers and Glenwood Place.
She is survived by her son Brian (Babs), a granddaughter Heather (Scott) Chappell , of Fort Collins, Colorado, and grandson Tyler (Sarah) Finkle, of Atlanta, Georgia.
The family is eternally grateful to Shirley's beloved nephew Bruce Stevens and family of Des Moines, Iowa, for their love and devotion throughout her life along with life-long friend Jana Mitchem, of Marshalltown, for being the daughter Shirley never had. Shirley, herself, expressed her appreciation for the care and comfort provided by the staff at Accura. A special thankfulness is also expressed for the staff of St. Croix Hospice for the care and compassion shown to her over this past year. She will be buried in Carroll, Iowa, next to her beloved sister, Jeannette.
