Gar is survived by his wife, Julie; children: Kate Schossow, of Marshalltown, Jase (Abby) Schossow, of California, and Drew (Paige) Schossow, of Colorado; and three grandchildren. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 until 5:00 P.M. on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, June 30, 2025, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery near Jolley, IA. Memorial donations may be directed to the Lions Club or the Animal Rescue League of Marshalltown.
