Patty Howe

Patty Howe was born in Beloit, Wisconsin, on August 2, 1955. Her family moved to Marshalltown, Iowa, when she was 11 years old. She attended Marshalltown High School and excelled in her classes as well as swimming. She had a love for horses since she was very young and enjoyed them most of her childhood and even after leaving home for college. She attended the University of Iowa where she received a bachelor’s degree. In 1982, she married Rick Howe, they had two sons, Nick and Ross. Sadly, Rick passed away in 2004. Patty was a radiology technician and worked in Marshalltown, Kansas City, Des Moines and Ankeny. She retired during Covid in 2020. She remained in the Marshalltown area until June of 2004, when she moved to Taos, New Mexico. All who knew Patty, loved her sense of humor.
Patty passed away on Saturday night after bravely battling a terminal lung disease for the last year. She will be desperately missed by me and almost anyone who knew her. Despite her health battles, she had a knack of still finding the humor in the most dire condition. Many times, I saw her Doctors and Nurses laughing as they left her hospital room. The emptiness without her, and not seeing her smile back at me, is truly heartbreaking. We will have a celebration of life for Patty when the house we are building is finished in a few months. Thank you to all who have reached out to me, hold on to loved one’s tight, and laugh as much as you can. Devoted Partner. Steven Speas.
She was a beautiful person inside and out and will be missed by many.
