Gary Paxton

Gary C. Paxton was born on April 12, 1940, in Savannah, Missouri, to Lawrence and Louise Paxton. After high school, he followed his passion for crop dusting, moving his family to Marshalltown, Iowa, where he enjoyed a successful career in the aviation industry until his retirement.
In 1992, Gary and his wife Peggy moved to LeGrand, Iowa, where they built their home together. They shared a love of home projects, gardening, and the company of friends and neighbors.
In his later years, Gary served as a camp host at Rock Creek State Park in Kellogg, Iowa, where he never met a person who didn’t become a friend. His creativity and knack for “making something from nothing” live on through his daughters and grandchildren.
Gary is survived by his daughters, Kim (Joe) Corns and Dina (Ross) Wiebensohn; his stepdaughter, Jennifer (Robert) Nazario; four grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Gary was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy, along with several family members and friends.
Per Gary’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded, and a private family burial will take place at a later date. Online tributes and condolences can be made at AmesCremation.com.
