Survivors include his wife, Dena, of Brooklyn; three children: Kyle Van Dee, of Holiday Lake, Brooklyn, Jordan Antons, of Grinnell, and Ryanne Van Dee, of Brooklyn; his mother, Betty Van Dee, of Vining; five siblings: Rick (Sue) Van Dee, of Tama, Shirley (Larry) Jacobs, of Toledo, B.J. (Dan) Monroe, of Iowa City, Rusty (Cindy) Van Dee, of Chelsea, and Jill Van Dee Apfel (Todd), of Vining; brother-in-law, Doug Horne, of Chelsea; and many nieces and nephews.
