Gary Dean Weede passed away peacefully at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames, Iowa, on Sunday, December 14, 2025. He was born to Dean and Hilma Weede in Stanwood, Iowa. Graduating in 1956 from Mckinley High School, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, he went on to Iowa State University. In 1958 he married his high school sweetheart, Jannes Teply. He completed his Bachelor, Masters, and Doctorate at ISU. He taught there until 1970 when he moved on to Illinois State University. Retiring in 1998, they moved to Nathrop, Colorado where they had built their dream home. In 2018 they moved to Marshalltown. His wife, sister Donna Perkins, and brother Nick preceded him in death. Gary is survived by his brother Roger (Pat) Weede, sister-in-law Jane Weede, brother-in-law Wayne Perkins; his daughters: Susan (Joe) Pollpeter of Marshalltown, Sandra (Carl) Menard of Burton, Michigan; grandchildren: Kate, Jacque, Molly, Lindsay, Amanda, Lance; great grandchildren: Sybastian, Brooke, Ryan, Jeanette, Natalie, Audrey.
