Joan Boston
Joan Lorraine Boston, 90, died January 15, 2026, at Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center in Salida, Colorado. She was born on March 14, 1935 in Marshalltown, Iowa to Emmett and Mabel Wickersham. She married Ed Boston on September 4, 1964 in Melbourne, Iowa. They lived in Marshalltown, Iowa where Joan worked at Fisher Controls as a secretary and later worked as the office manager at Bob Marshall CPA Office and Edward D. Jones Brokerage in Salida, Colorado.
On January 30, 1975, Ed and Joan survived a private plane crash near the top of Tincup Pass near Salida Colorado. It was then the Salida community embraced them and in the 1980’s, they moved to Salida, Colorado.
Joan was admired for being a beautiful seamstress and her constant willingness to learn, particularly when it came to maintaining her computer skills into her late 80’s. She eagerly embraced her husband’s hobbies including flying and motorcycles. Joan and Ed traveled extensively, cruised to almost 40 countries, and visited 49 states by private plane. They always enjoyed the fellowship of friends with a good cup of coffee.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, parents and sister, Dorothy Rider. Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.
Per her wishes, cremation rites were accorded by Lewis & Glenn Funeral Home in Salida, Colorado. A service and interment at Elmwood Cemetery in LaMoille, Iowa will occur this spring.
