Richard Lynn Minser was born on October 12, 1950 in Circleville, Ohio. He lived there until the age of four and then the family moved to Gladbrook, Iowa. Richard was the son of Clifford E. Whiteeagle and Irene Louise (Hall) Minser. On August 1, 1973, Richard was united in marriage to Karen Rae Drennon at the Salvation Army in Marshalltown. Richard worked in the laundry department at the Iowa Veteran’s Home until his retirement in 2009. He also worked as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant at Grandview Heights in Marshalltown. Richard was a proud member of the Men’s Club at the Salvation Army, a Sunday school teacher, and a Boy’s Club leader. As a talented musician, Richard kept busy listening to music and playing with his band. He could often be seen playing the drums and the spoons. Richard also had a very comical side to himself. He was known as a jokester, a happy go lucky kind of guy, and a family man. Richard enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will always be remembered as “the grandpa” of Accura.
He is survived by his two children: Sean (Melissa Long) Minser of St. Cloud, MN, and Marilyn (Martin) Sturtz of Marshalltown, IA; his eight grandchildren: Jolene (Jonah) Teixeira, Michael Sturtz, Makayla Reynolds, Madeline Reynolds, James Hatton, Trevor Martin, Elli Martin, and Kane Minser; his great-grandson Hayden Teixeira plus one more on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents: Clifford and Irene; his wife Karen; his brother Roger Minser; and his sister Gloria Woehlk.
