Janice was born March 12, 1941, to Elmo and Mildred (Hallstead) Lutes in Iowa City, IA. She attended Bangor Schools in Bangor, IA. Janice was united in marriage to the love of her life, Charles Hughes, on June 30, 1973, in Marshalltown, IA where the two made their home. Along with being a homemaker and raising their family, Janice ran an in-home daycare for several years, “retiring” when Charles did so the two could spend time together. Janice enjoyed crocheting and made many blankets for her family. She also enjoyed bingo and the casino, and being outside, especially doing yard work. Janice had a caring heart and most of all, adored time spent with her family.

Janice will be missed by her children; Karen (Rod) Buffington of Marshalltown, Robert (Jerri) Daniels of Council Bluffs, John Daniels of Louisiana, Rick Hughes of Marshalltown, and Chere Hutson of Conrad, IA, nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one brother, Gib Lutes of Marshalltown. She was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter, Lori Hughes, one son, Jack, in infancy, and nine siblings: four brothers and five sisters.
