A Mass of Christian burial for Fran will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Parish- St. Henry Catholic Church in Marshalltown. Frances Marie Goetz was born on December 25, 1939 in Garwin. She was the daughter of Vincent and Helen (Lovstad) Goetz. Fran graduated from Garwin High School in 1958. After high school, Fran attended the Evangelical School of Nursing in Marshalltown. She was a registered nurse for fifty-three years. Fran started her career in Oregon and later retiring from Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. She was a member of the MECH nursing alumni and served on the board for many years. Fran was also a member of St. Henry Catholic Church. She enjoyed her time as a nurse, along with being an avid cat lover, going to the casino and traveling the world. Above all else, Fran cherished her family and the time she was able to spend with them.

Frances is survived by her niece: Sondra (Scott) Sherwood and nephews: Shawn (Chanel) Goetz, Loni (Angela) Goetz and Chuck (Yvette) Rhodes. She is also survived by several great nieces and nephews; one great-great niece and nephew and her cats- “Molly” and “Boots”.

Frances is preceded in death by her parents: Vincent and Helen; brother: Mark Goetz and “Maggie” the cat.
