Gene Banes
Gene Franklin Banes, 85, of Toledo, passed away Friday, February 27, 2026, at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama under the care of Iowa River Hospice. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. Interment will follow at National Cemetery in rural Vining. Visitation will be Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 9:30-11 AM prior to the service at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-six years, Donna, of Toledo; his children: Jeff Banes, of Ankeny, Todd (Kim) Banes, of Elberon, Annette (Don) Lacina, of Tama, and Pam (Jim) Hala, of Toledo; nine grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; his sister, Judy (Jim) Sankot, of Jefferson; and nieces and nephews.
