Jean joined her three older sisters and a brother, and would have another brother and sister before the family was complete. Jean graduated from Mound City High School in Mound City, KS in 1971.
Jean was joined in marriage to Steven Lee Leise on January 6, 1973, in Mound City, KS. They made their home outside of Albion, IA for 53 years. This union brought daughter Pamela Jean and son Mark Stephen.
Jean farmed with Steve, raised their children, and was active in the Liscomb Church of Christ, as well as many clubs and organizations over the years. In her youth, she was in Rainbow and was an active member of the Eastern Star all of her life.
Her hobbies included sewing, quilting, reading, and enjoying and playing music. Jean became interested in genealogy and spent many years of her life tracing family history, visiting county courthouses and cemeteries to compile a full history of her family as well as her husband’s. She loved sharing this information with the family.
Left to remember her include her husband, Steve Leise of Albion, her daughter Pam (Shannon) Cummins of Minburn, IA, son Mark Leise of Albion, granddaughters Sophia Cummins of Baxter, IA and Payton Cummins of Minburn, brother Scott (Kathy) Murphy of California, sister Sandra (Willey) Abati of Fort Scott, KS, many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
