Marcia Kellogg
August 27, 1946 – March 19, 2026
Marcia Elaine Kellogg (Scull), 79, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026, at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell, leaving behind a legacy of deep loyalty, a vibrant spirit and a life full of cherished connections. Born on August 27, 1946, to Reno and Mildred Scull, Marcia grew up attending the Lynnville-Sully School District and graduated with the LDF High School Class of 1964. On September 14, 1963, she married the love of her life, Max Kellogg and together they their one and only child, Michele. Together, Max and Marcia built a life rooted in Iowa, sharing over 62 years of adventure, hard work and family.
Marcia's professional life was defined by her dedication and commitment. She spent many years at Dunham-Bush in Marshalltown, where she retired as a Transportation Manager. After a few seasons enjoying the “snowbird” life in Casa Grande, Arizona, her passion for work led her back to the workforce. She served as a Claims Examiner at Grinnell Mutual Insurance until her second retirement in 2016.
Outside of her career, Marcia lived life with an eye for beauty and a heart for her community. She was an avid photographer and a passionate camper who found peace in the outdoors. She loved boating at Lake Rathburn, and taking long country rides-especially to see the vibrant fall colors in Decorah. For over thirty years Max and Marcia had an annual tradition of camping at the Iowa State Fair, something she looked forward to every year. In her later years, some of her favorite moments were spent on golf cart rides through Le Grand, chatting with neighbors. Marcia was a woman who gathered people to her and kept them close for a lifetime. She cherished all of her family and friends. Whether meeting her cousins regularly in Newton, spending time with her close circle of friends affectionately called the “Looney Tunes” or visiting with neighbors, Marcia's heart was always open. A lifelong fan of country music, she found great pleasure in her later years attending live music performances at Rock Creek State Park. Above all, she was a devoted wife and mother.
She is survived by her husband, Max; her daughter, Michele (Jeff) Cottingham; her fur baby, Cash and granddog, Sid, who were the light of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Joyce Scull.
