Owen Kerber

Owen Kerber, age 75 of Marshalltown, passed away surrounded by his loved ones on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at the Iowa River Hospice House.

Owen David Kerber was born on October 5, 1950, in Emmetsburg, the son of Lyndon and Regina (Feye) Kerber. He graduated from Sentral of Fenton High School in 1968, and continued his education at Northwest Missouri State University, graduating in 1972. During college, Owen enlisted to serve his country in the National Guard, from 1970 to 1976.

On August 21, 1971, Owen was united in marriage with Nancy Danielson. They built their home in Marshalltown and welcomed two children: Jill and Mike.

Owen worked for Fisher Controls for 36 years, retiring in March of 2010. Through his work, he was able to travel to 15 countries. Owen was a social and outgoing person; He was a member of the North 3rd Ave. Dairy Queen Bowling Team that won two Marshalltown city league championships. Owen also played slow pitch softball for many years in Marshalltown. He enjoyed coaching both of his children in all their sports, and attending all his grandchildren’s activities cheering them on. He was great at giving them advice along the way.

In death, Owen is reunited with his parents, Lyndon and Regina Kerber; in-laws, Jim and Bonnie Danielson; granddaughter, Emma Tompkins; sister-in-law, Linda Snyder; nephews: Andy Snyder and Todd Jansma; and niece, Angie Snyder. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of nearly 55 years, Nancy; his children: Jill (Hoss) Tompkins and Mike Kerber; daughter-in-law: Kari (Jonathon) Bizios; grandchildren: Garrett Kerber, Cassidy (Logan) Carney, Alyssa Tompkins, and Makayla Kerber; and great-granddaughter, Lylah Carney. He is also survived by his brother, Kenneth (Ruth) Kerber; sister, Lynn Reymundo; brother-in-law, Jamie (Michelle) Snyder; six nieces and three nephews, along with many friends.

Per Owen’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Monday, June 8, 2026, also at the funeral home. Interment will be at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be directed to V Foundation, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, or the Iowa River Hospice House.
