Karol Ann Kenner: 1959 to 2026
Karol was born in November of 1959 to Patricia "Pat" Ann Groves Kenner and Harold "Don" Donald Kenner. Karol was born in Marshalltown, Iowa where they lived until 1972. Karol's father, Don Kenner, died suddenly in 1963. In 1972, her mother married Arnold Wayne Eggers, whom Karol credited with raising her, shortly before the family moved to Phoenix, Arizona.
In 1978, Karol graduated from Gerard Catholic High School in Phoenix, Arizona. Karol began a long career in the travel industry, working for several different travel agencies and cruise lines. Karol traveled to South, Central, and North America; Europe, Asia, and Africa; and the Mediterranean, Caribbean, and South Pacific. Karol enjoyed a lifelong hobby of family genealogy, following in the steps of her mother and her aunt, Karen Groves.
After living with cancer for two years, Karol died on February 15, 2026, in Phoenix, Arizona. Karol was preceded in death by her older sister, Diane Kenner, in 1959; her step-father in 2010; her step-brother, Rick Eggers, in 2013, and her mother in 2024. Karol is survived by her step-brother, Todd Eggers of Iowa; and her Groves cousins, Mike and Chris of Iowa and Nick of Indiana.
Karol requested her estate be distributed to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude Children's Hospital, and the Tama County, Iowa, Historical Society and Genealogy Library. Karol was interred in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Tama, Iowa with her maternal grandparents, mother, father, and sister.
