The family moved to Clarinda, IA, in 1958. In 1970, the moved to Marshalltown, IA, when his father was employed with the Marshalltown public School District. Mark attended school there until his graduation in 1974.

He graduated from the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy and went to serve as deputy sheriff in Audubon-Carroll counties.

Mark earned his BA from Bellevue University in Plattsmouth, NE and his MA degree from Iowa State University. He was employed with the Carroll Community School District until his retirement.

Mark is survived by his wife Ann, of Manning, Iowa. Two children from a former marriage, Mark and Megan. Five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. His mother, Loretta Trullinger, of Marshalltown, IA; two sisters, Carmi (Norm) Olson, of Nevada, IA, Jeri (Perry) Meyer, of Waukee, IA; three nieces and three nephews.

Preceding him in death is his father, Gerald (Jerry) Trullinger.
