Corwin "Corkee" Keeler, age 93, of Albion, Iowa, passed away on the evening of Friday, July 24, 2026 at Unity Point Health in Marshalltown.
Funeral services for Corkee will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 beginning at 10:30 A.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at the Albion Cemetery following services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated in Corkee's name to Hope United Methodist Church, American Legion Post # 46 or VFW Post 839. Corwin Franklin Keeler was born November 8, 1932 in Albion, Iowa. He was the middle of three sons born to Lester and Verna (Stofferahn) Keeler. Corkee was a lifelong resident of Albion attending school at Albion High School. In 1952, Corkee was called to serve his country in the United States Army. Prior to his drafting, he met Dorothy Thomas. On March 2, 1952, he was united in marriage to Dorothy at the Albion United Methodist Church. Corkee served his country during the Korean War until 1954 when he was honorably discharged from service and returned home.
Corkee and Dorothy built a home together using his craftsmanship and raised their four children, Kendra, Kimarie, Kristy and Kent. He went to work as a draftsman for Fisher Controls in Marshalltown alongside his carpentry gift. Over the years he went on to help multiple family members build homes of their own. Over the years he was a longtime member of the Albion United Methodist Church and now is currently a member of Hope United Methodist Church in Marshalltown. Additionally, he was active in the Marshalltown American Legion Post 46 and VFW Post 839. Corkee retired from Fisher Controls in 1986. Upon retirement, he and Dorothy became snowbirds spending 19 winters in Texas. In his free time, Corkee enjoyed passing time golfing, fishing, bowling alongside his grandchildren and son-in-law. In younger years, he enjoyed camping along with the family and adored his dog, Sis.
Those left to remember and cherish his memory are his children, Kendra Nestrud, Kimarie (Jon) McKeever, Kristy Keeler and daughter-in-law, Dawn Keeler; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson along with nieces and nephews.
In eternal life, Corkee rejoins his wife of 71 years, Dorothy Keeler; son, Kent Keeler; parents, Lester and Verna Keeler; two brothers, Jerry Keeler and Virgil Keeler; and father and mother-in-law, Larry and Ula Thomas.
