Darcie Lunsford, age 65, of Unionville, MO., formerly of Marshalltown, passed away on August 6, 2026.
A memorial service has been scheduled for Wednesday, August 12, 2026, starting at 12:00 P.M. at Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. (1209 Iowa Ave W, Marshalltown, IA 50158) Pastor Dan Vellinga will be officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on August 12th from 10:00 to 12:00 P.M., also at the funeral home. Darcie will be laid to rest at Marietta Cemetery. Born on September 22, 1960, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Darcie Lon Danskin was the beloved daughter of Donald and Barbara (Cogley) Danskin. She grew up in Marshalltown, where she attended Marshalltown High School and proudly graduated with the class of 1979. Driven by a passion for caring for others, she first became a surgical technician and later continued her studies in nursing. On July 14, 1984, Darcie married the love of her life, Kendall E. Lunsford, in Liscomb, Iowa. Marshalltown was always home to them, even after they moved to Missouri following her retirement in April 2025. Darcie devoted her career to serving others as a Licensed Practical Nurse at the Iowa Veteran's Home and McFarland Clinic in Ames. Darcie was a devoted member of the First Congregational Church in Marshalltown and enjoyed being part of the local YMCA community. At Lake Thunderhead, she poured her heart into countless committees, always eager to lend a hand. She also gave her time generously to the food pantry in Unionville, Missouri. Some of her happiest moments were spent at the lake with family and friends, and her loyal dog, Koata.
Darcie is survived by her husband Kendall; her two sons: Donald (Angie) Lunsford, and Dylan Lunsford, both of Marshalltown; her five grandchildren: Ian, Tristan, Delaney, Isobel, and Decan; her siblings: Derrick (Faith) Danskin of Temecula, CA., and Lisa (Kandis) Danskin of Unionville, MO.; and her niece Jennifer.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Donald and Barbara.
