Patricia Gimbel, 89, of Marshalltown, IA passed away Thursday, September 10, 2026, peacefully under hospice care at the Iowa Veterans Home, where she resided since the spring of 2021. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 17, 2026, at St. Francis of Assisi – St. Henry Catholic Church in Marshalltown. Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 16, 2026. at Anderson Funeral Homes in Marshalltown, with a vigil to follow beginning at 7:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Marshalltown following the funeral mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Iowa Veteran's Home Christmas Fund or the St. Francis Catholic School. Anderson Funeral Homes has been entrusted with the arrangements. Patricia (Pat) Gimbel was born on June 17, 1937 in Flasher, ND to Max and Anna Miller. After high school, Pat served in the US Air Force as a secretary while stationed in Germany. She eventually returned to North Dakota and married George Gimbel on November 21,1959. Pat and George raised their three children in Marshalltown, IA. Once they became empty nesters, they moved to Las Vegas, NV, where they enjoyed the casinos and warm weather. George passed away in 2015, and Pat returned to Marshalltown in April 2020.
Pat was an avid sports fan and sports bettor. She ran the family football contest, and she won her floor's football contest for the first two years at the Veterans Home, beating all of the men. Pat was known for her hospitality, apple bars, immaculate house, good luck, patriotism, deep Catholic faith, and love of her family.
Pat is survived by her children, Gary Gimbel, Beth (Donald) Miller, and Mark (Denise) Gimbel; five grandchildren; four great-grandsons; and a sister. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three brothers.
