Gordon Lynn Eurom, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed quietly away in the early morning hours of Sunday, October 25th, just after celebrating his 87th birthday surrounded by family.
Born October 20th, 1939 in Marshalltown, Iowa to Boyd and Bea Eurom, Gordon grew up in small country schools, learning to tend to the family farm. These roots shaped the steadfast work ethic and deep core values that guided his entire life. A 1957 graduate of Clemons High School, Gordy later served six years in the US Army and Reserves.
While working at Fisher Controls, Gordy met Janet Irvine. They eloped to Colorado Springs and married on February 17th, 1967. Gordy remained a fiercely devoted family man to her and his two daughters for their entire lives.
His entire career was dedicated to Fisher Controls (now Emerson). He advanced from an entry-level role to retire in 1999 as materials manager for Europe, Asia, and Africa. This career became a global adventure for Janet and Gordy, allowing them to explore more of the world than they had ever dreamed.
In retirement, they moved to Georgetown, Texas, to be near their daughters' families. Gordy and Janet cherished spoiling their grandchildren, remaining purposely present for every major milestone. Following Janet's passing in 2009 after 42 years of marriage, Gordy stayed deeply active serving his church, the local Water and HOA boards, the Georgetown Area Car Club, and volunteering as a Faith in Action driver. As the proud keeper of family lore, he made annual trips back to Iowa to visit loved ones and place Memorial Day flowers.
In 2020, Gordy moved to St. Joseph's Village in Coppell, Texas. He quickly built a tight-knit community, regularly “holding court” at the men's morning coffee gathering. Known as a humble gentleman who loved good conversation, he spent his final years loving on his expanding family and sharing his trademark cantankerous yet sweet charm.
Gordon is survived by his daughters, Kendra Apple (David) of Coppell, TX and Jennifer Boyer (Chris) of Lavon, TX; grandchildren, Michael (Brooke) Apple of Coppell, TX, Aubrie (Matt) Robinson of Corinth, TX, Mitchell (Ali) Apple of Dallas, TX, Emma Boyer of Madison, WI, and Abigail Boyer of Overland Park, KS; and great-grandchildren, Carson, Landry, Walker, Shane, Norah, and Daisy. He is also survived by many loving extended family members. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Janet, his parents, brother Conrad, and niece Sandra.
Gordon was a precious husband, father, Papa, Papa G., and friend. He was deeply loved and is profoundly grieved.
A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, November 2 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of St. Joseph's Village, 1201 E. Sandy Lake Road, Coppell, TX 75019.
