Pauline F. Gleason, 91

Pauline F. Gleason, 91, of Dallas Center, passed away Friday, April 20, 2018, at Spurgeon Manor Dallas Center.

Pauline was born July 20, 1926, in Putnam County, MO, daughter of the late Gurney and Ethel (Pickett) Mullenix. She worked as a telephone operator in Unionville, MO. There she met and then later married Carl A. Gleason on January 13, 1945, while he was home on leave from the Army. After his discharge they made their home in Unionville until moving to the Promise City and Seymour, IA area where they farmed for 22 years. Later they moved to a farm in Colo and State Center, IA area, where she lived until Carl’s death on April 13, 2012. In later years she has made her home at Spurgeon Manor in Dallas Center to be closer to her son Roger.

Pauline was the best cook and gardener and loved teaching friends and family members over the years. She was a hard working farm wife, never afraid to take on any task. She could milk the cows at 5AM, serve a breakfast that any restaurant would envy and then bake a couple of pies and have a huge delicious dinner ready at noon. Her good nature, humor and her little giggle will be missed by all!

Pauline is survived one son Roger (Colleen) Gleason and grandson Chad Gleason, both of Dallas Center; one brother John Mullenix, of Kansas City, MO; two sisters: Anna Mae Litchenburger, of Kansas City, MO, and Lorene Thorne, of Keokuk, IA, and a foster brother-in-law Ronald (Janice) Kaiser, of Garwin, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brothers, James, Delbert, Randall and one in infancy.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at the Brandt Funeral Home in Dallas Center with visitation one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Iowa Veterans Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the Spurgeon Manor Building Fund.
