President Trump’s ‘One, Big, Beautiful Bill’ delivers big tax cuts for American workers

According to our great Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, real wages for hourly workers are up nearly 2%. Growth of this magnitude hasn’t been seen for 60 years. Under President Trump’s first term, American workers saw similar growth of about 1.3%. Both of his terms are in stark contrast to Biden’s -1.7%. One thing is clear; President Trump’s policies are great for American workers.

I am proud to be working alongside President Trump to take this growth even further. I voted for the “One, Big, Beautiful Bill” when it came to the House floor because it delivers historic growth for American workers, farmers, small businesses, and industry. Provisions like no taxes on overtime pay, no taxes on tips, and a permanent extension of President Trump’s 2017 tax cuts are jet fuel for our economy.

Under Biden, out-of-control inflation pressured many working parents to work irregular hours to provide for their families. When hard working men and women make the extra effort for their families, they should be rewarded — not taxed. President Trump’s “One, Big, Beautiful Bill” eliminates federal taxes on overtime pay, which would result in significant savings for workers. Estimates suggest this could provide up to $1,750 annually for overtime workers.

Another big win included in this historic legislation is a provision removing federal taxes on tips. This is a huge win for workers — especially those in the service industry — that would directly impact approximately four million Americans. Removing federal taxes from tipped income would boost annual wages for tipped workers by up to $1,700. In combination with the removal of taxes from overtime wages, this will be a gamechanger for American workers and their families.

Most importantly, President Trump’s “One, Big, Beautiful Bill” makes permanent the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) provisions, which include lower individual tax rates across income brackets and an even greater standard deduction for families and workers. This is projected to deliver on average a $1,300 tax cut for a family of four.

Last year, President Trump campaigned on these provisions. Now, less than one year into his presidency, he is delivering real results for American taxpayers. This is promises made, promises kept. In Congress, I’ll continue to work alongside President Trump to deliver on the American people’s mandate and deliver the largest tax cut for working and middle-class families in U.S. history.
