President Trump’s ‘One, Big, Beautiful Bill’ supports American energy dominance
When President Trump took office in January, he had quite the mess to clean up. Inflation ran unchecked under the Biden administration’s disastrous economic policy and the American middle class was left in the dust. Energy utilities and services quickly became economic stressors for homeowners and renters alike. Biden’s “Green New Deal” policies rewarded outsourcing our energy production to other nations–even to adversarial nations like China.
Under Biden, electricity, gas, and other utilities outpaced overall inflation. By 2023, the average American family’s energy expenses increased by an estimated $141 per month on electricity alone. By October of the same year, the average family was spending an additional $2,400 annually for energy related expenses. For working families already feeling the hurt, this can be the straw that breaks the camel’s back. In June of 2022, gasoline prices were over $5 per gallon–a long shot from the low gas prices under President Trump.
With President Trump back in office, he has kept his promise to bolster our national security by restoring American energy independence. In February, he established the National Energy Dominance Council to focus on expanding reliable and affordable energy production in the United States. The Council is tasked with reducing our dependence on foreign nations and cutting costs at the pump for American consumers.
In Congress, I’m doing my part to support the President’s agenda. President Trump’s “One, Big, Beautiful Bill”–which I voted for–advances his mission of secure, affordable energy. Among numerous provisions to bring energy production home, this legislation significantly cuts the Democrats’ “Green New Deal” policies. In doing so, this bill saves taxpayers over $500 billion. It also brings an end to the ridiculous $7,500 EV tax credit that mainly benefits wealthy individuals on the coasts. Through similar tax credits, taxpayer dollars were flowing into foreign economies–including China–for things like luxury EV cars, solar panels, and more.
It’s high time we had a President that sticks up for American energy production and prioritized cost-cutting for Americans–not outrageous “green” initiatives. President Trump’s “One, Big, Beautiful Bill” does just that. It is imperative that the Senate passes this legislation to cut the bureaucratic red tape that is suffocating American producers, consumers, and families. I will continue to use my voice in Congress to advance President Trump’s vision of a freer, more prosperous, and energy independent United States.
