A lifeline for Main Street: How new federal guarantees can save American manufacturing jobs

Walk through any industrial park in our region today, and you are struck by dedication. These local manufacturers — the bedrock of our economies — are more than just businesses; they support our communities. They represent nearly 98% of American manufacturing operations, providing jobs and stability right here at home.

However, even the most dedicated local producers face a persistent hurdle: securing the right capital to navigate today’s economic landscape and achieve their next stage of growth.

The proof is in the numbers: as wages have jumped by over 5%, our operating reality has changed rapidly. This growing cost structure demands investment that many small firms cannot manage alone. That is why SBA’s new Made in America Loan Guarantee, launching May 1st, is a lifeline for American industry.

By boosting loan guarantees to 90% for local lenders, this program provides the essential trust needed for investment where it matters most. This guarantee allows manufacturers to achieve three vital goals: they can upgrade equipment to lower costs; modernize facilities to meet contemporary demands; and — most importantly — secure our domestic supply chains by bringing critical production right back home.

We cannot let small manufacturers fail due to financial walls. We have the skill and dedication, but we need these resources now.

If you know a local producer struggling, or if your own business faces uncertainty, please act. Let’s work together to secure the stable future our communities deserve. For detailed information on eligibility criteria and financing options like the expanded ITL program, contact your local SBA district office. They are dedicated resources ready to guide business owners through these complex needs.
