RAGBRAI volunteers still needed

Kyley Leger

Marshalltown is gearing up to welcome thousands of riders and visitors as an official RAGBRAI overnight host, and community volunteers are needed to help make the experience unforgettable.

Hosting one of Iowa’s most celebrated events is a community-wide effort, and volunteers play a vital role in creating a safe, organized, and welcoming environment for riders from across the country. Whether you can spare a few hours or an entire day, there are opportunities for individuals, families, businesses, and community groups to get involved.

Volunteer opportunities include greeting riders as they arrive, assisting with camping and overnight accommodations, providing information and directions, supporting entertainment and activities, helping with hospitality stations, and assisting with morning rider departure. No previous experience is necessary–just a willingness to lend a hand and share Marshalltown’s hospitality.

“All Wheels Welcome” is more than this year’s theme–it’s a reflection of our community. Together, we have the opportunity to show visitors what makes Marshalltown a special place. Every smile, every helpful direction, and every act of kindness contribute to an experience that riders will remember long after they leave town.

Flexible volunteer shifts are available throughout the event, allowing community members to choose times and roles that fit their schedules. Volunteers will receive information about their assignments, check-in procedures, and event details at a Volunteer meeting on Wednesday, July 15 at 5:30pm at Iowa Valley.

“This is a chance to be part of something bigger than ourselves,” said the Marshalltown RAGBRAI Committee. “Whether you’re welcoming riders, helping behind the scenes, or supporting one of our many event locations, your time will make a lasting impact on both our guests and our community.”

Community members interested in volunteering are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible. A variety of positions are available, and early registration helps organizers ensure every area of the event is well supported.
