Thank you to our Marshalltown community

Marshalltown Municipal Band, and all its members, wish to thank the Marshalltown community for supporting our concerts throughout this 2019 season. In March, we were welcomed by the Iowa Veterans Home, for a concert in their Malloy Dining Hall following the evening meal. It is always a pleasure to perform for our veterans, who enjoy our music as well as shared time together.

Participating in the Memorial Day program is a special honor. This year, due to weather conditions, everyone gathered at Fisher Community Center, with an overflow crowd present to honor our veterans.

Our Municipal Band venue took an unexpected location change, due to the 2018 tornado, which devastated much of northern Marshalltown. We were no longer able to gather on the Courthouse lawn. Thanks to an invitation from Heidi Draisey and the 13th Street District, we performed our first two concerts in June at the ECHO Sculpture. Many loyal followers, as well as several new audience members, were present to share in our love of music.

Fourth of July is traditionally celebrated at the Marshall County Fairgrounds. A very large, responsive crowd was present for our concert, prior to the evening fireworks. Thank you to all who chose to remain for our program. It is always fun to play for such an appreciative audience!

Bob Untiedt, we are sending you a special thank you for your graciousness. You allowed our Municipal Band to set up and perform in the east Orpheum Theatre lot for two concerts in June and three in July. In addition, you were present for each of those concerts, welcoming all, and sharing news regarding upcoming events, prior to each performance. You also kept the Orpheum open for bathroom access, AND allowed our band and audience to move indoors, to the Black Box studio, due to adverse weather conditions.

WOW! Thank you, Marshalltown, for wonderfully supporting your Marshalltown Municipal Band in 2019!
