Funding for MFD, MPD training and assets
Regarding “Community input sought on art” in the Thursday, Sept. 12 edition:
According to the article Marshalltown has an extra $55,000 to spend on art at the new police and fire facility.
Since the men and women of the MFD and MPD risk life and limb every day on the job, the extra money should go to additional training and assets dedicated to “elevating” their safety on the job.
Instead of blowing $55,000 on one object to “elevate” local school artists by accepting submissions from them every fall for a 12-month display. The selection Committee could oversee the program.
The youth would benefit and gain appreciation for the PD and FD in the process.
