I have a dream too

During his famous “I Have a Dream Speech” delivered on Aug. 28, 1963 in Washington, D.C., Martin Luther King Jr. stated:

“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”

On Oct.14, the T-R editorial page featured a political “cartoon” created by artist Steve Benson of the Arizona Mirror newspaper falsely ascribing the following words to Martin Luther King Jr.(words in caps are misquoted by Benson):

“I have a dream that all our little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by their sexual orientation, but by the content of their character.”

Had he not been assassinated, Martin Luther King Jr. may have evolved concerning his views regarding homosexuality; however during his lifetime he did not express support for the culture or political agenda of what today is termed LGBT. To infer otherwise misrepresents his life and legacy regarding his achievements in the advancement of civil rights.

So what could be the source of this distortion?

Well … The Arizona Mirror is an independent nonprofit news organization focused on providing a platform for the expression of progressive views including social liberal issues such as LGBT interests and abortion policy and is the Arizona state affiliate of The Newsroom network. It consists of multiple left-of-center media outlets and is funded by the Hopewell Fund, a left-leaning funding and fiscal sponsorship nonprofit managed by the Washington, D.C.-based “consultancy” firm Arabella Advisors. It is a massively funded strategy company pushing the interests of wealthy leftist donors. They lead the protest movement against President Trump’s judicial nominees and push everything from opposition to the border wall, to support for Obamacare, to gun control, to government control of the internet, to pro-abortion activism, to God knows what other left-wing causes.

I am a 79-year-old lifetime Marshalltown resident and I have a dream: Make America great again.
