After 40 years, the Marshalltown Lioness Club, which has been serving the Marshalltown area and financially supporting Lions projects for the past four decades, has come to the end of an Projects underway will be continued by Lions Clubs.

The Lioness Club would like to thank the Marshalltown merchants who have generously donated to our fundraisers for almost 40 years and thank our community for supporting these fundraisers.

We thank the area schools, preschools, head start and day care centers for allowing our KidSight teams to come into their facilities for the last twenty years. Since they began eye screening in 2000, the Marshalltown Lioness KidSight teams have screened 7,452 local children at no charge. The images are then sent to Iowa KidSight in Iowa City for processing and analysis. A big thank you to the parents or guardians of these children for giving permission for this screening, thus enabling the almost 15 percent of children with eye problems to be referred to eye care professionals. Better eyesight for these children has enabled greater success in school. The Lions have financial help available when necessary so that no child will go untreated. This eye screening will be continued by the Evening Lions.

The Marshalltown Lioness Club is very grateful for the great support from the community as we followed our motto “We Serve Too” for the past 40 years. Our lives have been enriched by our involvement in the Lioness.
