Marshalltown gives awesome Bobcat support

Ryan Isgrig

Marshalltown

I am writing on behalf of the Marshalltown High School Athletics Department to thank you for your participation and generous support of the MHS Annual Golf Fundraiser held at the American Legion Memorial Golf Course on June 30.

The sun shined on us that day — in more ways than one.

We are immensely grateful for the people that participated as golfers and to the families and businesses that sponsored this event.

Space does not permit us to name everyone that stepped up and put on their rally caps for our Bobcat athletes. But we owe a special debt of gratitude to Emerson for their incredible support.

Our luncheon would not have been possible without the backing of JBS, Coca-Cola Atlantic Bottling Company, Fareway, Smokin’ G’s, and Hy-Vee.

We are also grateful to the dedicated staff at the American Legion — notably Paul Ainley, Chad Plaehn, and Pam Klinefelter — for their hospitality and hard work in making the event a huge success.

The funds generated for this event will have a direct impact on the well being and overall success of MHS student-athletes. As many of you know, the COVID-19 pandemic hampered our ability to generate gate admission and concession stand revenue.

To that end, the funds generated by the golf fundraiser goes a long way to support our basic operational needs. This fundraiser provides us with the resources we need to host events, pay officials, purchase athletic gear or equipment and uniforms.

Again, thank you for coming out to support the Bobcats.

We will never forget the sight of vehicles parked bumper-to-bumper down the Legion driveway to South Sixth Street — nor will we forget the smiles, laughter and the incredible weather. This event could not have been possible without your support and the remarkable resilience of this community.

We hope to see you soon at a Bobcat event cheering on our student-athletes.
