Telling the story of Jesus

A long time ago, there was a man who was wrestling with how to do a required task. His struggle was against his conscience and how he could say no to God? His name was (Jerry-miah).

In 1:4-19 Jeremiah received a call from God but he really didn’t want to do it. God told him that if he didn’t tell these people His message, they could die, Eternally. If that happened, their death would be on Jeremiah. How about that for a conversation with God?

If this Preacher didn’t tell and they died, he would be at fault. That sounds rather harsh coming from the Creator, but in reality all God asked him to do is the same task that Christians are faced with today. In Matt. 28:19-20 we are to spread the Gospel to the ends of the earth.

If no one teaches, how can the people hear? That was the quandary of Jeremiah. He was to tell God’s message. If the people didn’t change, then the teachers had done all they could. No one can be forced into the Kingdom of God, we must come by our own free will.

If we look back at the time we heard the preached word, we were in the same boat. We would have died in our sins had no one told us about salvation. By teaching/preaching, God wants us to put on the brakes that could lead to our destruction. Jeremiah had to listen to the Spirit inside himself, before beginning his ministry.

Teaching gives the next generation the opportunity of choice. By repenting of sin, we are changing our destiny. The central idea of Christ is to make disciples of everyone within the sound of our voice. Matt. 6:24 says there are only two ways to live life; by loving God or offering our services to Satan.

There is no other way, it’s either righteousness or evilness. The task of telling is not easy ’cause unredeemed folks don’t like hearing God’s truth. It is easy to see that if we chose God, we have chosen the tree of righteousness. The other choice is the tree of evilness.

Jeremiah chose to speak for God. The task of the Church today is to teach the Word of God. We cannot hedge our choice by living in both worlds. There is no middle ground between Heaven and Hell.
